Other things looked new, like the black roofing on many buildings you see from the tops of rides, and the underground seemed to be at it's best so far, though it is quite an old theme. I felt there were a few things that looked like it could be done better, missing bathroom tile, flower planting but it's still early. It was an excellent time to go in that regard. Despite those setbacks in time, there was little wait in lines. Maybe this is typical for the beginning of the season. As a mama, it did little to help me feel my kids were in a safe situation. True we appreciated the care to detail and all problems got fixed without any incident other than waiting. Like one put it: It is better to be down here wishing you were up there, than to be up there wishing you were down paring to airplane problems. Do YOU want to be the first to ride a ride after there was a mechanical issue? Something similar happened to my kids when they were on a different one later in the day.
After a second time of being offered the chance to get out, we took them up on it.

Trial runs, you know? We actually had been sitting in a rollercoaster but the wait got to be quite long. I have to admit i felt like we were guinea pigs for the guests of rest of the season. Comments * * * * Throughout the day there were a variety of rides that were going and then had 'minor' mechanical issues that took a while to fix. Little buttons with Christian sayings were 50 cents just in the main entrance to the right of the carousel as you are coming into the park. nice sized and similar to out of park prices i'd say. dd and I shared one so even better! nice sized candy bars are a dollar. Our inexpensive finds while at the park: Train station candy sticks, 75cents. It still is obviously ginger, but i even get used to as time goes on. Candied was as effective and much less acidic and bitey as the raw root. It is not the most pleasant taste, but the results are worth it to me. I ate it once an hour.a piece about the size of a dime or nickel. Today I used candied ginger.with sugar on it. In Florida I was at parks for over a week with no incapacitating sickness. As a teen I could go on everything, but when i got into my 30's I would get so sick I'd be out of commission for several hours. I would bite off small pieces throughout the day. After doing several parks in Florida, and a successful day today at Adventureland, I just have to tell you what works for me! GINGER! In Florida I used actual ginger root from the grocery store. If you are like several of the adults at this park who are beyond their teens and twenties, you might find a bit of motion sickness keeps you from enjoying the park as much as you used to or would like to. You can get a good feel for the park by the previous reviews, but I thought I'd add some helpful hints. If you will be in DesMoines longer than a day or two, do some research to discover the other fun things to do! So, if you live in Iowa, Western Illinois, Northern Missouri, or Eastern Nebraska Adventureland might be the perfect park for a quick weekend trip. It is convenient to go to the park for a while, leave in the mid-afternoon when the kids need a nap or you want to cool off in 1 (or all) of the 3 pools, and then come back in the evening - remember to get your hand stamped before leaving the park if you plan on coming back the same day.

Adventureland advertises in RVer magazines for retirees to come stay in their RV at the Adventureland Campground while working at the Amusement Park for the season. While things are a bit more expensive than fast food restaurants or convenience stores, the prices at Adventureland are still lower than what people are use to seeing at sporting venues, airports, etc. Although prices continue to soar everywhere you look, Adventureland tries to keep its prices as low as possible. What we like about the park: 1) The price of admission. My family has been going to Adventureland for nearly 20 years.
